Why do my Corfix calendars start the week on Monday instead of Sunday?

This article will summarize why the calendar date pickers in the Corfix admin (anywhere you pick a date or date range, such as Timekeeping) can suddenly start the week on Monday for one person, while everyone else on the team still sees Sunday, and how to switch it back yourself.

Is this you? The date pickers in the Corfix admin now show the week as M T W T F S S instead of S M T W T F S, you didn't change anything, and your coworkers' screens look normal. If so, keep reading. No admin or company setting change is needed.

Important: this is not your pay schedule

Do not change the Pay Schedule Period or any Company Settings to fix this. The calendar's first day of the week is a display setting that comes from your own web browser. It is separate from:

  • Pay Schedule Period (under Edit Company Settings), which controls how hours are grouped for pay and exports
  • Manage Schedules, which controls scheduled working days

If your coworkers see Sunday first and you see Monday first, your company's pay period is already correct. Changing it would affect everyone, not just you.

Why this happens

Corfix doesn't pick which day your calendar starts on. Your browser does, based on its language and region. Think of it like a wall calendar: a North American calendar starts on Sunday, while many others start on Monday.

How to switch it back to Sunday

You can do this yourself in a couple of minutes. You don't need admin access in Corfix.

Google Chrome

  1. Click the three dots in the top-right corner and select Settings.
  2. Select Languages from the left menu.
  3. Under Preferred languages, find English (United States) or English (Canada). If it isn't listed, click Add languages and add it.
  4. Click the three dots beside it and select Move to the top.
  5. Close all Chrome windows, reopen Chrome, and log back in to Corfix.
  6. Open Timekeeping (or any page with a calendar) and open the date picker. It should now start on Sunday.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Click the three dots in the top-right corner and select Settings.
  2. Select Languages.
  3. Move English (United States) or English (Canada) to the top of the list.
  4. Restart Edge, log back in to Corfix, and open any calendar.

Still Monday? Check your computer's region

  • Windows: Open Settings, then Time & Language, then Language & region. Set Country or region to Canada or United States, and check that Regional format matches.
  • Mac: Open System Settings, then General, then Language & Region. Set Region and First day of week to Sunday.

Restart your browser after changing either one.

Still seeing Monday first?
