This article will summarize the difference between the 2 types of Cost Codes: Fixed and Rate

Cost Codes are a great tool for managing time related to a specific task. Some examples you could track with Cost Codes are:

- Labour

- Admin

- Shop work

You could also get more granular like:
- Drywall

- Electrical

- Plumbing

- Finishings

Utilizing Cost Codes gives you more control over time management on your Projects and helps nail down where you might be running into bottlenecks.

There are 2 types of Cost Codes:

Fixed: This Cost code is great for capturing additional information. When a Cost Code is set to Fixed, the Worker applying the Cost Code to their timecard will be prompted with another field where they can add additional information. For example maybe you have multiple Cost Codes on on time card and you want to break out how many hours were spent on each.

Total Hours on site: 8

Drywall: 4

Elctrical:4

Rate: Rate Cost Codes act the same way as Fixed however the Worker will not be prompted with another field.
