How do I track workers while they are punched-in?

This article will summarize how to turn on Track While Punched-In so Corfix records a worker's location during their shift, and what to expect once it's on.

Prerequisites / Warning

  • Track While Punched-In does not work with Bulk Punch. Bulk punch happens from one device, so there is no individual worker device to capture location from. Workers must punch in on their own device for tracking to work.
  • Corfix never tracks workers while they are punched out. Location is only recorded between punch in and punch out.

Overview

When Track While Punched-In is enabled on your account, Corfix drops a location pin each time a worker moves a set distance during their shift. You choose that distance with the Distance Filter (Meters) setting. A smaller number means more pins and more detail; a larger number means fewer pins. The result is a map on the worker's timecard showing where they were while on the clock.

How It Works

  1. From the left-hand menu, click Timekeeping.
  2. Click Settings in the top right.
  3. Click the Location tab at the top, then turn on the Track While Punched-In toggle (Screenshot 3).
  4. When prompted, enter your Distance Filter (Meters). This is how far a worker must move before Corfix drops a new pin. Note: 50 meters is the default setting.
  5. Click Save.

From the next punch in onward, each worker's timecard will show a map of their location pins for that shift (Screenshot 4).

Use Cases and Benefits

  • Confirm time on site: See at a glance that a worker was at the job site for the hours claimed.
  • Multi-site days: When a crew moves between sites in one shift, the map shows where the time was actually spent.
  • Payroll disputes: Location history gives you an objective record to settle questions about hours or travel.
  • Fleet and equipment moves: Track where a worker travelled while driving company vehicles or moving equipment between sites.
  • Safety check-ins: For lone or remote workers, the last pin shows where they were most recently seen.
