How do I move a worker to a different day or project?
Move a worker's assignment by removing them from the original card and adding them to the new one.
Quick answer
There's no single "move" action. Remove the worker from their current card, then assign them to the new day or project the same way you'd schedule anyone — by dragging from Resources or using the Edit Assignment drawer.
Overview
Moving a worker is really two steps done back to back: taking them off the card they're currently on, and adding them to the card you're moving them to. Because Corfix doesn't block double-booking, it's worth removing the original assignment first so you don't end up with the worker showing on both cards by mistake.
Before you begin
- Moving a worker is done by an admin in the web portal.
- If the original day is today, the worker will be notified they were removed; if the new day is today, they'll be notified as soon as the new card is saved.
Steps
- Open the original card. Find the project's row and day column the worker is currently on, and click the card to open Edit Assignment.
- Remove the worker. Take their name off the Workers list and save. Delete the card entirely if nothing else is on it.
- Go to the new day or project. Find the row and day column you're moving them to.
- Assign the worker there. Drag them in from the Resources panel, or open that cell's card and add them under Resources > Workers.
- Save. The worker now shows only on the new card.
Use cases
- Reassigning to a different project: a worker was double-booked in error and needs to move to the correct site for that day.
- Shifting to a different day: a worker's start date on a project changes, and they need to move from Tuesday to Wednesday.
Troubleshooting
I added the worker to the new card but forgot to remove them from the old one — now they're on both. This is allowed by Corfix, since double-booking isn't blocked, but it likely isn't what you intended. Open the original card and remove them.
Will moving a worker send two separate notifications? Potentially, yes — a removal notice for the old assignment (if it's a current-day card) and a new-assignment notice for the new one. See How workers are notified of their schedule for timing.
