Why can't I see my project when trying to punch in?
This article will summarize the common reasons why a project might be missing from your list when you try to clock in, and provide simple steps to fix the issue.
Prerequisites & Warnings
Important Note: While workers can check their own phone settings, fixing a project's address or changing the company's distance rules requires Admin access to Corfix.
Overview & Explanation
If you or your team are ready to clock in for the day but the correct project is missing from the app screen, the issue is almost always tied to location settings. To ensure timekeeping accuracy, Corfix uses location data to verify you are at the correct job site. If your phone's GPS, the app permissions, or the project's address aren't perfectly lined up, the system will hide the project. This guide will walk you through checking your phone settings and confirming the project is set up correctly so you can get to work.
How It Works: Troubleshooting Steps
If a project is missing, check the following common causes:
1. Check your physical distance from the site Your company settings may dictate how close you need to be to the site to clock in.
- If your company has a Max Distance from Project limit set up, you must physically be within that specific radius.
- If you are too far away, the project will not show up. Move closer to the site and refresh the app. (Note for Admins: If this setting is set to "0", the distance is infinite and workers can punch in from anywhere).
2. Turn on "Precise Location" on your device Your phone needs permission to share your exact location with the Corfix app.
- Open your phone's main Settings.
- Find the Corfix app in your list of applications.
- Open the Location permissions and ensure Precise Location is turned On. As shown in Screenshot 1, basic location tracking is not enough; it must be set to precise.
3. Fix the project's address in Corfix (Admins Only) Sometimes, the address isn't properly linked inside the system. You can easily spot this issue if you see a red triangle warning pop up beside your Punch Location Requirement setting.
- Navigate to the Projects page on your web dashboard.
- Find the missing project and click Edit.
- Click on the Street Address text box.
- Begin typing the address and click the correct option from the dropdown menu that appears. As shown in Screenshot 2, you must select from the dropdown to properly link the map.
- Click Save. The project will now show up for workers on-site.
4. Check for outside GPS interference Sometimes, outside factors like heavy cloud cover, bad cell reception, or being deep inside a concrete or steel building can scramble your phone's GPS. Try stepping outside to a clear area with better service, wait a moment for your GPS to catch up, and try again.
Use Cases and Benefits
- Accurate Payroll: Ensures workers are physically at the job site before they can start logging hours, preventing accidental early punches.
- Quick Start to the Day: Knowing how to troubleshoot location settings stops delays at the beginning of a shift so crews can get straight to work.
- Clear Record Keeping: By fixing broken addresses, managers ensure all reports and safety documents are tied to the exact right location on the map.
