How do I unlink a project to stop sharing forms with a General Contractor?

This article will summarize how to safely remove a project link to stop sharing your forms with a General Contractor (GC).

⚠️ Important Note About Unlinking

When you unlink a project, the General Contractor (GC) will no longer receive any new forms from you. However, please note that any forms you have already shared will securely stay in the GC's account. You do not need to worry about them losing past records, and they do not need to manually archive them before you unlink.

Overview & Explanation

If you are currently sharing project forms with a General Contractor and need to stop, you can easily "unlink" the project within your settings. Unlinking simply breaks the connection between your account and the GC's account for that specific project. This stops any future forms from being shared, giving you full control over who sees your ongoing project data, while automatically preserving the historical forms you have already sent.

How It Works

To unlink a project, follow these simple steps:

  1. Click on Resources in your main navigation menu.
  2. Select Projects from the dropdown options.
  3. Locate the specific project you want to unlink from your list.
  4. Click the pencil button next to the project to edit it.
  5. Scroll down to the very bottom of the edit page and click the unlink button.
  6. A pop-up window will appear asking you to confirm the action. Note the disclaimer explaining that the GC will no longer see newly shared forms.
  7. Click the orange Confirm button to finish unlinking the project.

Use Cases and Benefits

  • Project Completion: The job is officially finished, and you no longer need to submit ongoing daily reports or updates to the GC.
  • Correction of Errors: You accidentally linked the wrong project to a GC and need to quickly sever the connection to prevent sharing incorrect information.
  • Contract Changes: Your working relationship with the GC has paused or changed, requiring you to restrict their access to your future project forms.
