How does drag-and-drop scheduling work from the Resources panel?
Drag a worker or asset straight from Resources onto a day cell to schedule it, without opening the assignment drawer.
Quick answer
Drag any worker or asset card from the Resources panel and drop it onto a day cell in the grid. This creates a scheduling card if one doesn't exist yet, or adds that worker or asset to the existing card for that project and day.
Overview
Drag-and-drop is the fastest path from Resources to the grid — it skips the Edit Assignment drawer entirely for the common case of just adding a person or a piece of equipment to a day. It works the same way whether you're on the Workers tab or the Assets tab, and the same way whether you're dropping onto an empty cell or one that already has a card.
Before you begin
- Drag-and-drop scheduling is available to admins in the web portal.
- The worker or asset must already exist in Corfix and appear in Resources.
Steps
- Open the Resources panel and choose the Workers or Assets tab, depending on what you're scheduling.
- Find the card you want to schedule, using search if the list is long.
- Drag it onto a day cell. Drop it directly on the cell where the project's row meets the date you want.
- Check the result. If the cell was empty, a new card is created with that worker or asset on it. If a card already existed there, the worker or asset is added to it.
- Confirm by opening or expanding the card if you want to double check who else is on it before moving on.
Use cases
- Fast single assignments: schedule one worker or asset to a day without opening any drawer at all.
- Building up a card gradually: drag several workers and assets onto the same cell one at a time as you staff it up.
Troubleshooting
I dropped a card but nothing was created. Make sure the drop landed directly on a day cell within a project's row, not between rows or on the date bar.
Can I drag onto a cell that already has a card? Yes — dragging onto an existing card adds the worker or asset to it rather than replacing anything.
