Timekeeping CSV Exports
This guide explains the purpose and structure of the CSV exports available within Corfix timekeeping.
Note: Timecards must be approved before they will appear in any export.
While PDF exports are convenient for quick viewing and are delivered via email, CSV exports are downloaded directly and are the required format for reporting periods exceeding 15 days.
1. Default Export
The Default Export is a granular, "transaction-level" report. Every single time entry is listed as its own row, making it the best choice for detailed auditing or importing into accounting software.
-
Primary Purpose: Detailed record-keeping and data manipulation.
-
Key Information Included:
-
Employee Details: Name and Employee Number.
-
Project Context: Project Name, Project Number, and Task Descriptions.
-
Precise Timing: Exact Start and End times for every shift or task (e.g., "09:00 AM" to "01:30 PM").
-
Type & Rate: Distinguishes between Regular, OT, and DT, and includes Pay Rate Codes (e.g., RET).
-
Worker Groups: Shows classifications like "Roustabout" or "New Construction."
-
2. Hours Export
The Hours Export is a "summarized" or "matrix" style report. Instead of listing every individual punch, it aggregates hours per employee per day across a specific week.
-
Primary Purpose: Quick payroll review and weekly totals at a glance.
-
Key Information Included:
-
Daily Totals: Separate columns for each date (e.g., 3-2-2026, 3-3-2026) showing total hours worked.
-
Pay Type Split: Every date is split into REG and OT columns side-by-side.
-
Weekly Sum: A final "TOTAL REG" and "OT" column at the end of the row for the entire period.
-
Layout: One employee may have multiple rows if they worked on different tasks, but the data is horizontally organized by date.
-
Summary Table: Which CSV should I use?
| Feature | Default.csv | Hours Export.csv |
| Granularity | High (Individual shifts/punches) | Medium (Daily totals) |
| Start/End Times | Yes | No |
| Daily Totals | No (must be calculated) | Yes |
| Layout | Vertical (many rows per person) | Horizontal (one row per task/person) |
| Best For | Auditing specific punch times | Speed-checking weekly payroll |
Export Limitations & Tips
-
The 16-Day Rule: If you need to export a month's worth of data, you must use these CSV formats. The PDF export option will be disabled for any range of 16 days or more.
-
Approval Check: If an employee claims they worked but isn't showing up in your download, verify that their timecard has been officially approved in the system.
-
File Handling: Since these are CSVs, you can open them in Excel, Google Sheets, or any payroll processing software.
