How do I set up Punch In/Out questions?
This article will show you how to set up Punch In/Out questions for your workers.
Punch Questions are a great way to ensure important information is captured at the start and end of each shift. You can customize these questions to suit your company’s safety, compliance, or documentation requirements.
Common examples include:
Punch-In Questions

“Are you fit to work today?”

“Have you stretched before your shift?”

“Have you completed a Toolbox Talk?”
Punch-Out Questions

“Were you injured today?”
-
“Have you filled out your end-of-day checklist?”

“Has all documentation been handed in?”
These are just examples—you can create any questions you’d like. Follow the steps below to set them up.
How to Set Up Punch Questions
1. Open Time Card Settings
Navigate to Settings within the Time Cards section.
2. Enable the Punch Clock Feature
Ensure Punch Clock is enabled.
Then scroll down to Punch Question Frequency.
3. Choose When Questions Should Appear
You will see the following options:

Punch-In – Workers are asked a question only when punching in.

Punch-Out – Workers are asked a question only when punching out.
-
Both – A question appears for both Punch-In and Punch-Out.

Disabled – No questions will be displayed.
For this example, select Both.
4. Add or Edit Questions
Click the pencil icon to create or edit a question. This will open the question setup page.
5. Enter Your Question
Type the question you want workers to answer.
6. Select the Number of Answer Options
Choose how many responses workers can select from (e.g., Yes/No).
7. Enter the Answer Options
Input the possible answers.
For example:

Yes

No
8. Choose Which Answers Should Flag a Time Card
Select any responses that should automatically flag the time card.
Example:
If you select “No”, any worker who answers “No” to the question will have their time card flagged for review.
9. Save Your Question
Click Save to apply the settings.
10. Repeat for Punch-Out (If Applicable)
If you selected Both, repeat the process for the Punch-Out question.
What Workers Will See
Once configured, workers will be prompted to answer these questions every time they Punch-In and/or Punch-Out, based on your settings.
