Should I Suspend or Delete a Worker?

This article will summarize the differences between suspending and deleting a worker account to help you choose the right method for your team.

⚠️ Important Considerations

  • Permissions Required: You must have the "Delete Account" permission enabled to permanently remove a worker.

  • Data Impact: Deleting a worker is permanent and will disconnect them from all historical records, including signed forms, completed tasks, and time cards.

Overview & Explanation

When a worker leaves your company or no longer needs access to Corfix, you have two options: Suspending (Blocking) or Deleting.

The "5-Second Rule": Suspending is for former employees whose work history you need to keep. Deleting is for accounts created by mistake or those that never started work.

When to Suspend vs. Delete

Action When to Choose This What Happens to Data?
Suspend (Block)

For employees who are leaving the company or seasonal workers.

Keeps everything. Forms, tasks, and time cards stay intact and linked to the worker.

Delete

For duplicate accounts or workers who never actually started (e.g., "Pending" status).

Wipes history. Disconnects the worker from all forms, tasks, and time cards they ever touched.

How It Works (Step-by-Step)

Option 1: Suspend a Worker (Recommended)

This is the safest way to prevent access while protecting your company's records.

  1. Go to the Resources menu on the left side of your screen.

  2. Select Workers.

  3. Choose the worker you wish to suspend.

  4. Follow the Suspend a Worker guide to block their access.

Option 2: Delete a Worker

Use this only if you are certain you do not need the worker's historical data.

  1. Go to Resources > Workers.

  2. Select the worker you want to permanently remove.

  3. Click the Edit (pencil icon) button next to Account Details.

  4. Click the Delete button at the bottom right and confirm.

Use Cases and Benefits

  • Protecting Records: Suspending ensures that during a safety audit, you can still see exactly who signed a specific form.

  • Seasonal Rehires: If you suspend a worker, you can easily reactivate them next season instead of creating a brand new profile.

  • Cleaning Up Mistakes: If you accidentally invited a worker twice and one account is still "Pending," you can delete the extra account without losing any data.
